Secret Santa Meeting

The last meeting of the year in 2013 was the best Toastmasters’ meeting I ever attended. Everybody brought gifts from books to sweets and Christmas related gifts. As a relatively new member, I was enthusiastic about the gift giving and getting ready for the meeting. We invited past members which gave us the feeling of a reunion. The Christmas spirit and the end of the year made us think about what happened at Toastmasters this past year. Since everyone passed the Santa test because we were

Who Was Secret Santa?

It is becoming one of our club traditions to invite Santa to the yearend meeting. Not only did we ask members to bring a wrapped gift to exchange with others, but this year, Santa brought his own gifts for everyone there. I think he forgot the naughty list at home! But if you were at the Toastmasters meeting on December 17, then you were good enough to receive a present from Santa himself! So who was our wonderful jolly Santa this year? I found Brasov Toastmasters by searching on Google. When I saw the contact details from the website, I was anxious and undecided. Should I contact them or not?! I had no idea what the atmosphere would be like. I finally sent an email and received a response from Rinda. She invited me to join the next meeting. I will never forget that Tuesday, November 26, the BIG DAY! I didn’t know what to expect. Immediately, I was well received and felt as if I were among

I learned about Toastmasters from one of my oldest and dearest friends, Iulian Dudita. Considering who made the recommendation, I decided on the spot to come to a meeting. The overflowing energy of the group and the use of the English language conquered me precisely like in the Jerry Maguire movie, and I will say the same thing: “You had me at hello.” Thank you, fellow Toastmasters, for having me! by Sebastian Bugeag

I heard about Toastmasters during a Crestcom manager training program in 2012. One of the trainers, Dr. Jim Hennig, a specialist in human dynamics and business relationships, highly recommended we attend a Toastmasters meeting if we wanted to enhance our ability to communicate and evaluate others. After attending several meetings of the Brasov Toastmasters Club, I decided I had to get involved. Here I am outside the box, preparing speeches, improvising on table topics, and evaluating others with the objective of getting better and helping others evolve

I Forgive You! I Forgive Me! I Love You! I Love Me!

At the end of the year, I tidied my house, my mind, and my heart. It took me two days, but I gratefully let 2013 go! I can honestly now say that I am ready to embrace “the new,” ready to conquer “the unknown,” and ready to spread “the good!” In order to evaluate your 2013, magazines, shrinks, psychologists, parents, teachers, etc., encourage us to think about the experiences we shared, things we learned, and people we met to help us focus on this amazing year

Do I Miss Toastmasters?

I think this is a rhetorical question, isn’t it? Once you’ve experienced the privilege of taking part in a Toastmasters meeting, being part of the action, speaking before others, or having at least one small role, you can’t help but ask yourself, “Can I be better? Will I ever speak like the more experienced ones?” Sometimes I imagine myself in front of the club members smiling, saying something interesting or funny, seeing all those wonderful people who are there to help you, to learn with you, to share

Toastmasters at București Business Days

For the last two years, Toastmasters clubs in Romania have been asked to evaluate the speeches given by professionals at the Bucuresti Business Days annual event in December at the Romanian American University. Approximately fortyfive partner companies worked together to organize speeches, workshops, roundtable discussions, and networking activities for 700 participants from around the country. Participants were looking for inspiration, experience, and opportunities to create value in Romania. Experienced evaluators from Toastmasters clubs in București, Timisoara, Cluj, Brasov, Baia Mare, Braila, and Suceava were there to give valuable feedback to the

Conducting Music and Toastmasters?

What do being a music conductor and Toastmasters have in common? More than you could imagine! This past fall, I was accepted into a beginner’s music conducting class taught by the maestro of the Brasov philharmonic. When the one week class started November 19, I discovered I was the only true beginner! The other participants from Japan, Australia, Spain, and Cyprus were close to professional musicians with years of experience. Under normal circumstances, I would have given up immediately to save myself from embarrassment. I hate to confess
