Chisinau Toastmasters International Conference
Last month, five Brasov Toastmasters members attended their first Toastmasters International Conference in Chisinau, The Republic of Moldova. There were members from three other Romanian clubs and two clubs from Chisinau. The special guest was Thomas Skipwith, a DTM from Switzerland, who shared some of his amazing experience in Toastmasters.
The Brasov team of Anca Gânsca, Cristian Musa, Ion Ursu, Valentin Dumitran, and I spent four days in trainings and workshops, participated in two contests for the members, attended networking sessions, and visited a few highlights in the city.
As for me, it was another stone added to the selfdevelopment edifice I’m working on every day. And it was a big stone this time! What excited me the most was delivering my first international workshop with Ilie Dercaci, AC from Chisinau, and Thomas Skipwith, DTM. My workshop stressed the importance of concision and simplicity in creating an impactful presentation. I used a well-known allegory from the “Bare Necessities” from Disney’s Jungle Book to make my point. It was a great jump forward for my inner confidence and motivation, and the confirmation I needed for my new career.
Winning the first prize in the Prepared Speech Contest is also something I’m glad about. I’m thankful to our club which helped me grow and gave me a good reason to continue running instead of stopping every time I felt as if I couldn’t walk anymore in the public speaking shoes. I’m happy, I’m proud, but most of all . . . I’m grateful!
Next stop: Timisoara National Conference, May 24-26, an event you don’t want to miss!
