What is Pathways?

I joined Toastmasters because I was looking for a supportive community in order to learn, enjoy and evolve as a public speaker. Even though I have held numerous presentations in front of small groups of people I still feel a bit of anxiety when it comes to larger groups and by that, I mean starting with 7 people and upwards.

I joined the club in November 2019 which means that I am a member for a while now. I love that I found new friends, people that listen and give advice, and a new family. The main benefits of my membership were the support and understanding that I have received from my fellow members, the good feeling that accompanies our meeting, and the positive attitude that everyone brings to the table.

I encourage everyone to participate in a session or two as a guest to have a better understanding, and see for yourself how coming together with us can benefit you in the long run.

I joined Toastmasters on February 1st, 2014, after being a guest for a few months. The main reason I joined as a member was that I wanted to improve my time management skills; I also wanted to meet more people who wanted to learn more about leadership and communication, just like me.

There are many things I enjoy about Toastmasters. If I were to chose the 3 things I enjoy the most, they would be the energy of the meetings, the well-structured and respected agenda, and the diversity of the members (related to their jobs).

As an ex-pat in the UK and later in France, Toastmasters allowed me to meet new people and to better integrate with the community that I was part of. In my hometown, Brașov, Toastmasters allowed me to successfully develop my creativity and support a growing community.

If you want to become a better speaker to boost your career, Toastmasters is the right place for you. We don’t build strong people, we build people with strong leadership and communication skills. I encourage you to search for a club close to you and participate in at least 2 meetings to see for yourself what Toastmasters can do for you.

I wanted to meet new people and I was eager to develop my ability to speak out in public. So in March 2017, I decided it was time to take action. A dear friend of mine had spoken to me about Toastmasters and she seemed very passionate about it, so I decided to join a meeting of the Brasov Toastmasters Club.

First impressions go a long way, and the people of this club made a great impression on me! Warm, caring, and eager to learn and teach, this felt like the right place. I signed up to become a member that same evening.

Three years later I can confirm it delivered on what I was looking for. I’ve met many interesting people and developed new friendships. I am much better at expressing myself and speaking from my heart, not just my head. I also learned a great deal more – like how to give feedback in a way that truly helps the receiver. I also got to know myself better through the process of writing and delivering speeches about topics that are dear to me and events throughout my life.

The journey I’ve taken so far has had a profound impact on my mindset, my skill set, and my ability to connect with others. If that sounds compelling, then I strongly recommend you take the first step and visit a Toastmasters club near you.

Our Club

As an officially recognized Toastmasters International club, our mission is to empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.

Ever since 2010, we have been achieving this through our weekly meetings using the educational program, mentoring by experienced members, and additional activities. We meet every Tuesday starting at 19:00 sharp.

We are a professional club whose members are committed to helping each other develop English communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.

We provide a supportive self-paced learn-by-doing environment where our members have the opportunity to improve themselves through continuous practice. This learning is made even more effective by the way feedback is incorporated throughout our meetings and the help given by a mentor.

How much does it cost to be a member of our club? Currently, the cost is 40 RON a month plus the initial membership fee of 90 RON that covers the cost of the education program. We pay for 6 months at a time from October-March and April-September.

The cost for 6 months is 240 + 90 for a total of 330 RON. However, the cost is prorated according to how many months are left in the 6 month time period. So let’s say there were 3 months left you would pay 120 +90 for a total of 210 RON.

Are you curious to see what our meetings are like and how they could help you on your way to a better future?

Because we are a non-profit organization, driven by our mission to empower people we love having guests visit our club meetings and would gladly show you around. This should be ample experience to decide if we are a good match. You might even get a chance to speak during Table Topics (impromptu speaking), but only if you want to.

We are back to having outdoor in-person meetings as we did a year ago. However, we are now having hybrid meetings, combining in-person with online as well. So you can join us no matter the situation.

We meet every Tuesday starting at 19:00 sharp (GMT +3). Guests need to arrive a minimum of 10 minutes early to get ready for the meeting.
